"Sow A Seed Of Peace, Reap the Fruit of Progress"
By Mrs. Prescilla R. Cacanog
The
moral degeneration of society, stock market,
terrorism, poverty, bombing anywhere, religious
conflict, gang war, and political war lead us to a
chaotic nation. Often we are troubled about what
could happen in the future or we spent to much time
dwelling in the past. Our minds whirl and emotions
rise because we can neither change the past nor
manipulate the future. How fruitless! How wasteful!
Blessed are the peacemakers.
Can this world ever achieve everlasting peace? The
Bible speaks, “Yes.” In John Chapter 14 verse 27,
“My peace I give unto you.” It’s the peace that the
world cannot give. Peace to know and to live. God,
the Prince of Peace, gives us peace. How can we sow
a seed of peace? Does it need a formula, a heart to
desire, or an individual to start it?
Peace comes from God. In Him is peace, and peace is
the light of men. When we trust Jesus as Lord and
Savior, reconciliation between God and us come, and
we become peacemakers in our own world of
relationship even with our enemies. Peace then is
planted in our hearts. We will be blessed and become
peacemakers.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be
called Sons of God” , Jesus said in Matthew 5 verse
9. Peacemakers themselves are filled with God’s
peace, the very quality with which they need to help
others.
Peacemakers are living evidence of God’s reconciling
love in Christ. John Pierre de Caussade said that we
should stop worrying about tomorrow to experience
God’s peace everyday. It is necessary to be
disengaged from all we feel and do in order to walk
with God in the duty of the present moment.
Each moment imposes a virtuous obligation on us
which committed souls faithfully obey. People must
see Christ in us as we resolve conflict. “Let there
be peace on earth and let it begin with me”, as the
song goes. At home, at work, or in school, we can
show peace to others by the way we handle conflict.
Apostle Paul said, “The man reaps what he sows.”
“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be
called Sons of God.” Let there be peace in our heart,
and share it to others. Nourish it by a forgiving
heart. Flourish it by an understanding mind.
Pour-out with an unfailing love of God. Surely,
peace grows in us, in our family, in the community,
and bears the fruit of harmony, unity, and
prosperity. Progress then is achieved. The good we
do is never lost. Each kind act takes root and every
bit of peace we sow develops harmony and unity. With
God, we can sow peace! With peace, there is unity!
With unity, we can reap the fruit of prosperity.
